Ashby Rushing

Ashby began volunteering with Better Decisions in 2018. She has been privileged to serve as a mentor and teacher with Thistle Farms and the Tennessee Prison for Women. Ashby grew up in Virginia and attended the College of William and Mary. She completed masters and doctoral degrees in education at the George Washington University. She taught in Arlington Public Schools and the Potomac School. In addition, she served as an adjunct professor at the George Washington University. Volunteer work in Northern Virginia included serving as Board Member and President for Encore Stage and Studio, a children’s theater and running auctions benefiting her church and her daughter’s school. She took on the role of Executive Director for Better Decisions in 2022. She enjoys yoga, travel, writing, reading - she works part-time at Parnassus Books -  and spending time with her husband, daughter and dogs!
