Volunteers Needed!

We are thrilled to be serving two populations of vulnerable women in Spring 2023: Inmates at the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center (formerly known at the Tennessee Prison for Women) and residents of Thistle Farms.

To volunteer as a mentor, you must commit to 1-hour per week during a 9-week class cycle. Thistle Farms class cycle will begin February 28; the prison class cycle will begin in mid-March.

For Thistle Farms, you must go through a one-time volunteer training of 3 hours (2 hours virtual and 1 hour with the executive director). If you have already gone through Better Decisions training, you do not need to do anything additional.

The DKJ Rehabilitation Center has additional requirements: You must fill out an volunteer application training with the TN State Dept of Corrections, undergo a background check, and complete an in-person training.

Email us at direction@betterdecisions.org to let us know you are interested ASAP! We will walk you through all the steps you need to take to be ready to mentor.
